How can I register?
- You can register here and choosing the test date that works best for you. If you have any queries about the registration process, feel free to contact the British Council for assistance.
When will my results be available?
- Your test results will be accessible on the participant portal within 3–5 working days after your test date. If you have any questions about your results or certificates, please get in touch with the British Council.
How is the IELTS test scored?
- IELTS assesses your abilities in listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Each section is graded on a scale of 0 to 9, and these scores are combined to provide an overall band score.
How long is the IELTS result recognised?
- Your IELTS result is valid for a period of two years from the date stated on your certificate.
Are breaks allowed during the test?
- There are no schedule breaks during the test. Bathroom visits are permitted, but not during the listening section, instructions, or the last 10 minutes of the reading and writing sections. Please note that any list time cannot be recovered.
How long does the exam last?
The written sections of the exam take around 2 hours and 45 minutes, broken down as follows:
- Listening: 30 minutes
- Reading: 1 hour
- Writing: 1 hour
The speaking test lasts 10–15 minutes.
What should I bring on test day?
- You must bring the ID or passport you used during registration. If there are any changes to this information, they must be reported to the British Council before the test day, as failure to do so may lead to disqualification.
What if my contact details have changed?
- If your contact information changes, please inform the British Council in advance to prevent any issues on test day.
